English-language description from D墨w膩n-i Q膩示imiyy膩t
岣san Ma岣奴d K膩tib (d. after 640/1243) was an Ismaili poet. Born near Qazv墨n, he was alive when Imam 岣san of Alam奴t (d. 561/1166) proclaimed his doctrine of 辩颈测腻尘补迟 or spiritual 鈥榬esurrection鈥 in 559/1164. He was a secretary of the governor of the fortress of Gird K奴h, Shih膩b al-D墨n, whom he later followed to Quhist膩n. Around 630/1232 he was in Alam奴t, preparing a copy of the diwan whose surviving fragments are published here, to be offered to the Imam of the IsmailisAdherents of a branch of Shi’i Islam that considers Ismail, the eldest son of the Shi’i Imam Ja士far al-峁⒛乨iq (d. 765), as his successor. at the time, 士Al膩示 al-D墨n Mu岣mmad (d. 653/1255). 岣san Ma岣奴d was well-versed in the intellectual and spiritual universe of Niz膩r墨 Ismailism as recorded, inter alia, in Na峁D玶 al-D墨n 峁玸墨鈥檚 (d. 672/1274) Raw岣峚-yi tasl墨m Sayr wa sul奴k, and 膧gh膩z wa anj膩m. The present diwan contains the most complete contemporary catalogue of the terminology used in expressing Niz膩r墨 Ismaili doctrine, surpassing even the works of 峁玸墨, N膩峁r Khusraw (d. after 462/1070) and Niz膩r墨 Quhist膩n墨 (d. 720/1320).
